Wild Creek Rods was born in July 2006 in a remote Scottish hunting and fishing lodge on the edge of Loch Garry.

Outside, the rain lashed the valley, the heavy window frames rattled and the wind howled it's hauntingly mournful tune. Yet I was quite content in the bar, single malt in hand, the smell of cigar and damp wood smoke, a crackling open fire, gently patting Purdey, the resident black Labrador who kept nodding off against my leg.

I recounted the day’s intrepid walk to a wild highland stream tumbling from a cold hard mountain and the many golden, red spotted beauties that rose so opportunistically to our fly. It was in this reflective moment where one would have been quite happy to slip away, that I decided to create my own complement to everything that embodied fly fishing, the wildness of our pursuit, the poetry, the value of companionship and the appreciation of forever learning something that can never be truly mastered.

Wild Creek Rods is a result of months of searching for a manufacturer who could meet my specifications in a fly rod. When I finally found and then cast the first Wild Creek sample made for me, I knew this was the rod that I could offer with the utmost confidence to fellow fly fishers, as arguably the best value rod on the Australian market.
