Wild Creek Split Cane comment

It was very nice to receive the following testamonial from Craig of Melbourne this morning upon receipt of his new Wild Creek 7′6″ Split-cane rod.

Thankyou for a superb product I picked it up from the post office this morning. This would have to be one of the best rods I have cast in 20 years of fly fishing. Yes I have had it out in the back yard already and cannot wait to get out on my favorite stretch of water with it. This really is a work of art. I have been looking on your web site at the range of products you sell and will be in touch in the near future for 1 or 2 of the reels you carry. What great value for money they are also. I am so glad I have come across you. I will certainly be spreading the word about wild creek rods in the Gippsland area for you.

Anyway thanks for a fantastic addition to my fly fishing gear collection and i will be in touch in the near future via your website to order reels.

Kind Regards
Craig

Just an amazing rod - The Penstock 9′6″ Wild Creek 5wt

The new Wild Creek member has just arrived and is absolutely brilliant. This is a rod for every lake fishers repertoire. Personally I find this as close as I have found to the perfect lake rod. Why? For the following reasons:

  • Medium Fast, throwing a superb cast.
  • Enough tip to absorb any distant strike and return to playing fish with the rod, not your forearm.
  • Lightness of a 5, strength of a 6, control of an 8′6″ and the aesthetic presence of a rod twice its value.
  • The ideal rod for fishing drys on stillwater, chasing windlaners with rapid fire beetle presentation, or casting to that distant midger.
  • A tip that will absorb striking a fish hard at distance.
  • The ideal rod for gaining control on that final draw that provokes so many follows and takes at the boat. The extra length allows you to “hang” the fly just that bit longer.
  • Versatile length for fishing larger open rivers where across and down nymphing may be employed - giving great control and contact on the swing of the fly.

The rod casts beautifully with a weight forward 5 and performs equally solidly with a double taper 5. Wild Creek Rods are incredibly consistent throughout their range for quality and this rod has just pushed the bar that little bit higher again.
